Bad Zu is a Moscow-based electronic bass duo led by seasoned producer Philip Alexandrov, with over a decade of experience. Drummer Sasha Malyshev provides the dynamic live percussion. Renowned for their underground sound, Bad Zu blends various musical traditions into an unrecognizable yet captivating mix, with their enigmatic energy and urban rituals frequently revisiting the theme of the mask.

Their music draws from diverse influences, including early 2000s UK grime and breakbeat, South African gqom, Chicago footwork, and the trendy singeli sound from Dar es Salaam. Their rhythmic electronic performances are uniquely paired with live drumming, and feature collaborations with Russian rapper Saluki and legendary producer Summer of Haze, maintaining an accessible harmony. Bad Zu’s releases on the iconic Hyperboloid label showcase their evolution from a chaotic cultural mashup to a darker, more refined sound.
